MAVSG were pleased to host a clinical training day at the Florrie in Liverpool. We had attendees from the various local hospitals to hear our programme of expert talks. The event covered a wide range of topics including:

  • Selection criteria for treatment and emerging treatment options in oncology – this talk was given by Dr Pope, oncologist from the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre
  • Tina Conroy from Pragma  who is a chartered occupational hygienist gave a talk on asbestos containing materials and their uses providing particular focus on the ways females may be exposed to asbestos.
  • Marie Roberts who is the personal development lead for palliative end of life and bereavement care and is a clinical nurse lead from Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust gave a talk on how to navigate difficult dialogues in care, and also ways to ensure you maintain self-care when working in the care sector.
  • Dr Jennie Hoyle, Occupational Respiratory Physician from North Manchester General Hospital provided a talk on understanding silicosis.

We were so grateful for the amazing speakers who kindly gave up their time to enable us to put on this event and we were so pleased to see the great turn-out. It was so lovely to get to see all the attendees who help support our service users.
