Asbestos campaigners’ welcome talks on funding research into mesothelioma by Cape plc

NO EMBARGO TIME.

The Merseyside Asbestos Victims Support Group welcome the news that Cape plc, formerly know as Cape Asbestos, have agreed to meet our national body and internationally recognised medical professionals to discuss funding research into improved treatment and finding a cure for mesothelioma, a cancer of the lining of the lung invariable caused by asbestos.  A planned demonstrations at their local depot in Warrington has been postponed pending the outcome of the meeting.

John Flanagan, Support Officer for the group said “We are delighted that Cape plc have agreed to discuss donating £10 million of funding into mesothelioma” he added “ the disease has devastated the lives of thousands of workers and their families on Merseyside after they were naively exposed to asbestos by Cape during their working lives on Merseyside which is one of the hotspots for mesothelioma in the UK.”
