Plaque Unveiling Ceremony
To mark the 20th Anniversary of the Banning Of Asbestos legislation, a plaque will be unveiled at 132-134 Conway Street Birkenhead CH41 6JE on Sunday 24th November 2019. This is the nearest location to Cammel Lairds ship yard, where many of the people we help and support were employed.
This is a milestone in the anti-asbestos campaign that started in the 1960’s and continues today.
Sadly, we are now seeing people working in other occupations and professions such as school teachers, clerical workers and generally non industrial workers being affected by asbestos related diseases. The campaign against the use and worldwide trade of asbestos continues today and your presence, if you can attend, will be seen as people willing to continue the fight.
The Plaque unveiling will be held at the Unite the Union office in 132 Conway Street, Birkenhead, next door to the Crown Pub starting at 1.00pm with a buffet, tea and coffee.
