Leigh Day Asbestos Summer Fundraiser
As a firm we are doing another charity summer fundraiser/awareness event. You will recall a couple of years ago we did a walking tour of the UK and we raised money for asbestos victims support groups up and down the country. This year we are holding a similar event in each region.
On 15th July the Leigh Day asbestos team will be doing a walk along the Mersey to raise awareness about mesothelioma and asbestos diseases, and to especially highlight the amazing work done by asbestos support groups around the country.
The Liverpool walk is part of a series of events that we’re doing around the UK. The whole walk symbolises the passage of asbestos into Liverpool Docks, it’s transport along the waterways of Merseyside and Cheshire and it’s processing, manufacture and use in various locations such as Everite in Widnes, where asbestos products were made, and the likes of ICI, Shell Stanlow, Fiddlers Ferry Power Station and many other sites where asbestos materials were extensively used and from where we have all seen many individuals with mesothelioma caused by exposure at these and many other industries.
The plan is that we will start at The Britannia Inn, Riverside Drive, Liverpool L3 4AZ at 3pm, Tuesday 15th July, walk to the Pier Head. Then head along the river to the Liver Buildings and then back to our offices for canapes and aperitifs on the terrace.
Colleagues from our Liverpool office will be undertaking the walk, although it’s not compulsory to complete the entire walk and many will opt to do a particular section of the walk. We have a support van who will be following us.
